Kia Ora and Konnichiwa! My name is Yasuko Okamura from Japan! I obtained a Bachelor of Education in Japan and studied in Australia majoring in Master of Teaching and Master of Applied Linguistics. I have 11 years of teaching experience in a range of year levels at international schools. I joined ANI in 2020, however, I could not come to NZ due to Covid restrictions. I am so grateful to be back at ANI last year and finally get to meet all the lovely students! I believe it is important to establish trust and strong relationships with my students and their parents so that they feel safe and happy in an inclusive environment.
Apart from teaching, I am passionate about running, trekking, and drawing. The longest distance I have run is 80km a day. I have participated in 10 full-distance marathon races. I also love travelling by myself to experience different cultures and meet new people. I have been to 30 countries; which country is next? I always want to share my experiences with my students so I can help to inspire and motivate them!
