Yasuko Okamura

Yasuko is a passionate and energetic teacher who is open-minded to all students. She believes it is important to build strong and meaningful relationships with all her students. She loves applying kin-aesthetic activities in the classroom, letting students learn by doing. She also enjoys sharing students’ learning with their parents.
Yasuko grew up on the island of Amakusa in Japan. She loves nature and fell in love with NZ when visiting two years ago. Already having international experience as a teacher, working at schools in Japan and Australia, she decided to teach in NZ. Yasuko’s teaching experience includes a range of age groups from pre-school to secondary school, enabling her to appreciate how children develop and learn.
She holds three teaching qualifications obtained in Japan and Australia; a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Applied Linguistics, and a Master of Teaching. Her love of working with children drives her to continue improving her teaching skills.
Yasuko loves travelling the world to learn about different cultures and meet new people. Her favourite sport is marathon running (42.195km) and she has enjoyed racing all over the world. She hopes to enjoy running and being outdoors in nature with ANI students.
She is excited to teach at ANI; to learn and grow together with the students!
