Tēnā koutou, ko Steven Van Nes toku ingoa. I am proud to be the cultural leader at ANI, promoting diversity and cultural inclusivity, the distance squad coordinator, growing a love of running amongst our young people and the passionate educator for Room 10. I value creativity, critical thinking and students becoming active participants in their learning journey. I strive to innovate and engage our tamariki with exciting, relevant and purposeful learning opportunities for the 21st century.

I have taught abroad in China and Ireland before returning back to New Zealand to complete my Masters in Teaching Degree at Auckland University. There is something special about the intermediate schooling years as students ignite passions through an array of unique opportunities that are presented to them.

Outside of teaching, I have two beautiful children. 4 year old, Mason, and 2 year old Nova that keep me busy! I am mad about sports, particularly cricket, rugby and league. If you see me around school I would love to chat about what happened in the weekend of sport! I also love snowboarding, surfing and spearfishing to gather kai moana. I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
