Kia Ora, my name is Nick Houston and I am excited to be returning to ANI in 2022. I graduated with my Bachelor of Education in 2020 and will be teaching in Room 2 and fortunate to be a part of the Matai team. Last year taught me many lessons that I look forward to putting into practice with Room 2. I was born and raised in Mount Albert, Auckland with most of my family living close. I studied on and off over the years to become a classroom teacher whilst balancing competitive sport and other commitments.
Outside of the classroom I enjoy being active and spending lots of my time in and around the water. I am a passionate drummer and enjoy exploring different areas of music. As a teacher I prioritize giving students the tools to be able to deal with whatever life has to offer which has never been more evident than the last few years. I promote and encourage students to question the world around them and bring their knowledge and experiences to promote their curiosity and lead others. A focus this year which I want to build on is preparing our students for the exciting challenges they will face going to high school and beyond. I hope to build a positive class culture to add to our ANI Whānau.
