Kia ora e te whanau. My name is Megan Hughes, I am the Room 4 classroom teacher, Matai team leader, Year 8 Dean and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). I am passionate about teaching this age group of students- they have so much potential and change so much in 2 years, it is exciting to share their learning journeys with them. Students at ANI never fail to blow me away with the quality of their work- it is inspiring to work in an environment that supports and extends students to reach their full potential and beyond. I believe that building strong relationships is the key to engaging our young people and I look forward to working alongside you to make sure your child has a great experience in Year 8 and achieves to the best of their ability.
2021 is going to be an exciting year for me and my whanau. My son Sam and his wife Kohe will be welcoming another Hughes into the world in April so I will be a Grandma. I cannot wait to see my beautiful granddaughter, and will be spending my spare time with them in Napier. I am a passionate reader so love to do this when I am not at school. I love movies and have watched a lot of different series on Netflix and I am always looking for new recommendations! I am a keen swimmer and I have been set a challenge of improving my fitness this year so I will be trying out new ways to do this to improve my wellbeing.
I am excited for this year and cannot wait to meet and work with new students and their whanau.
