Lee Smith

Kia ora, my name is Ms Lee Smith, and I am the Team Leader of the Rimu team teaching in Room 7. This year, I am also completing a Master’s of Contemporary Education with a focus on using AI tools to improve literacy. I absolutely love the wonderful students, family and community at ANI. Our school culture is so positive and fulfilling, and it is a joy to watch students learn, engage, and grow. I believe students learn best when they are engaged and interested. The IB model of inquiry learning is an excellent way for students to develop their skills and understanding while choosing topics they care about. My favourite subjects are reading and writing. I love the way a good story can take you on an adventure without ever leaving your couch! This is my 9th year teaching. I have had several jobs all over the world, living in England, France, Norway and Ireland. I love singing, dance and drama and incorporating them into the curriculum alongside maths and history. I enjoy computer science and building an understanding of different concepts using computer programs. As much as possible, I like my class to laugh and have fun while challenging themselves and completing their work. Intermediate is such an exciting time of growth in students’ lives and sets the tone for high school and adult success. I look forward to connecting with everyone and building relationships.
