My name is Kate Shin, and I serve as the International Students Director at ANI. Originally from Seoul, Korea, I feel fortunate to have grown up in a supportive family alongside my three sisters, all of whom are professionals in their fields.
I began my career as an English teacher in secondary schools in Seoul before relocating to New Zealand with my family in 1996. Prior to joining ANI, I worked as a Korean Advisor in the School Support Team at the University of Canterbury. I later completed a master’s degree at the University of Auckland, which has further strengthened my professional journey as an educator.
Since joining ANI in 2006, I have had the privilege of working with outstanding colleagues and engaging with the dynamic and enthusiastic students who make our school community so special. My work at ANI continues to be deeply rewarding and fulfilling.
Outside of school, I enjoy playing the piano, tramping, reading, and travelling to explore new places. New Zealand’s remarkable natural beauty has made it a place I am proud to call home. Family is also an important part of my life, and I cherish time spent with my husband and our two adult sons, now in their thirties.
I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped my journey, and I remain committed to supporting and contributing to the international community here at ANI.
