Kate Shin

I am Kate Shin, the International Student Director. Originally coming from Seoul, Korea, I consider myself fortunate to have been born and raised in a loving family with three sisters, all professionals in Korea. Embracing my role as an experienced educator, I have been an integral part of ANI since 2006, having previously served as a Korean advisor in the School Support Team at the University of Canterbury.

Completing my master’s degree at the University of Auckland has further enriched my educational journey. Originally an English teacher at secondary schools in Seoul, I relocated to New Zealand in 1996 with my family. Joining ANI has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to collaborate with exceptional colleagues and engage with the vibrant children of this age group.

Beyond my professional endeavours, I find joy in various hobbies such as playing the piano, tramping, reading, and exploring different corners of the world through travel. New Zealand, with its breathtaking nature, has become a cherished home for me.

Family holds a special place in my heart, and I take pleasure in spending quality time with my husband and two boys, who are now in their thirties.

I am grateful for the opportunities that have shaped my life’s journey and look forward to continuing my contributions to the ANI community.
