Hello everybody, my name is Jason Shin and I am very proud to be the teacher of Room 28 who is excited about the year ahead. I believe in leading students to become inquirers so that they can think critically and dive into their true passions in order to pursue what they desire. I encourage the students to take risks and try new opportunities whenever they arise. I enjoy teaching within the International Baccalaureate programme, and am a collaborative teacher who is passionate about working with intermediate students, especially those experiencing the transition to a new school. I want to give good guidance to the students so that they can be successful in what they do and express their interests to others.
I was born in Korea but have lived in New Zealand since I was 3. I have travelled the same pathway as the students by attending ANI and Auckland Boys’ Grammar as a student. I completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and a minor in Writing Studies. Then I did a Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching. I have realised through my education here how important it is for children to know what they enjoy. My enjoyments include writing, reading, singing, playing tennis and travelling.
I am looking forward to this year and cannot wait to meet you all.
