David Sinclair

Kaiako Māori

Tēnā koutou katoa, ko David Sinclair tōku ingoa.

“Ko te manu e kai ana i te miro, nōna te ngahere, ko te manu e kai ana i te māturanga, nōna te ao”

I am honoured and excited to begin a specialist role as Kaiako Māori at ANI in 2026. Growing up in Rotorua sparked my early interest in Te Ao Māori, however the most formative and life-changing immersion came during my teacher training when I was fortunate to be placed in the bilingual unit at Te Papapa School in Onehunga.

During this time, I was generously gifted knowledge in Te Reo, Tikanga, and Te Ao Māori, and it ignited a deep passion for ongoing learning and for sharing what I know with others. Since joining ANI in 2024, I have loved being part of this community and am very excited to work alongside our rangatahi and kaiako as we continue to strengthen our understanding and connection to Te Ao Māori.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, running, listening to music, spending time with my whānau (including our springer spaniel, Basil), and visiting my Dad at the beach in beautiful Whangapoua — a special place for our family.

Ngā Manaakitanga,

Matua David Sinclair
