Colby Winspear

Room 20

Kia ora, my name is Colby Winspear, and I am excited to be joining the team at Auckland Normal Intermediate as a teacher in Room 20. Originally from Canada, I bring with me a passion for education, a commitment to authentic learning, and a belief that every student can be successful in their learning.
My teaching philosophy is centred on creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where students feel safe to be themselves, take risks, and grow as learners. I believe that learning is most meaningful when it is authentic, relevant, and connected to students’ lives, interests, and experiences. By fostering curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking, I aim to empower students to become confident, capable, and lifelong learners.
I am passionate about building strong relationships with students, whānau, and colleagues, recognising that these partnerships are essential for student success. I strive to create learning opportunities that challenge and inspire students while supporting their academic, social, and emotional well-being.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy walks with my border collie. I value spending time with family and friends and making the most of the opportunities to explore the beautiful places and communities around me.
I am looking forward to being part of the ANI community and working alongside our learners and whānau to create a year filled with growth, achievement, and memorable learning experiences.
