Tēnā Koutou, my name is Chae-Yeon Park and I am the lucky classroom teacher of Room 5. I completed the Bachelor of Primary Teaching degree from Laidlaw College in 2020 and joined ANI straight after. I was born and raised in Tāmaki-Makaurau, and my family immigrated here from Seoul, South Korea. I speak fluent Korean, and I value my unique experiences and identity as a Korean-Kiwi.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, enjoying a nature walk or hike, and doing art projects. As a teacher, I put positive, strong relationship building with my ākonga and their whānau at the core of my practice. I believe that ako (the flow and ebb of teaching and learning between learners and teachers) is extremely important in creating a classroom environment that sets us up as lifelong learners. I deeply value collaboration and connection. I am truly hopeful that all learning experiences in 2022 will foster positive self-growth, prepare learners for their transition into high school, and aid them in developing positive self-worth and self-identity.
