Sam Hughes

SENCO Release / Te Reo

Sam Hughes is our Te Reo Māori specialist and will be looking after our cultural advisory here at ANI. In his 5th year of teaching Sam has joined us after 3 years working for both the University of Auckland as a Māori Academic Advisor and Lincoln University as the Kaitakawaenga Māori.

His passion lies in accelerating success and helping all students to reach their full potential. Sam is also a member of the Young Pacific Leaders cohort, which is run by the US Embassy and has a postgraduate degree in education. In his spare time he enjoys watching sport, taking in the beautiful scenery our country has to offer and listening to his many Spotify playlists.

As well as teaching Māori, Sam will also be team teaching with Megan Hughes in Room 4 (who also happens to be his mum). He is a lifelong learner and someone who enjoys the collaborative learning approach ANI offers its students. He is looking forward to being on board in 2019 and is happy to answer any and all questions around Māori and Pacific education at our school.
