Heather is excited to be joining the ANI team for the 2019 school year in her role as science specialist. Heather was born in Toronto, Canada and completed her schooling in Kingston, Ottawa and Edinburgh. Following her Bachelor of Education degree, she moved to British Columbia to work as an outdoor and environmental educator. This experience fuelled her passion for teaching as it allowed students to make connections with the natural world through science education.
For the past five years, Heather has worked in Ontario, developing inquiry based projects for intermediate IB students while also teaching senior biology and chemistry courses. She is passionate about bringing science to life by using hands-on activities, as Heather believes these experiences enable students to take ownership of their learning. You may find Heather trail running or kayaking on weekends, or reading a good book and working her way through the many coffee shops in the city.
