Heather is very excited to be returning to ANI for her second year as the Science Specialist Teacher. Heather was born in Toronto, Canada and completed an Honours Bachelor of Physical and Health Education, specialising in kinesiology and life sciences, at Queen’s University. Following her Bachelor of Education degree, she moved to British Columbia to work as an outdoor and environmental educator. This experience fuelled her passion for teaching, as it enabled students to make connections with the natural world through science education.
Heather has worked in several Ontario secondary schools, developing inquiry based projects for intermediate IB students, while also teaching senior biology and chemistry courses. She is passionate about bringing science to life by using hands-on activities, as Heather believes these experiences empower students to take ownership of their learning.
Beyond ANI, Heather enjoys exploring new hiking trails, road trips, running and a hot cup of coffee.
