School Counsellor

School Counsellor
Graeme Smith

In my role as the School Counsellor I support students, staff, parents, caregivers, families and whanau to navigate their way through many issues including self-esteem, anxiety, stress, harassment, bullying, depression, loss and grief, anger, friendships, relationships, self-harm, body image and family separation.

Counselling is a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where these issues can be unpacked, challenged and re-framed. Options can be examined, action plans can be developed and on-going support can be provided. I am passionate about supporting students, families and staff to ensure all ANI students maximise their learning opportunities and enjoy their time at school.

I am in the school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I welcome referrals from all students, staff members, parents, caregivers and whanau. Referrals can be emailed by clicking here.

Students can also contact me by either by putting a note in the ‘Counsellors Box’ in the Library or by telling their classroom teacher.

Teen Turbulence

Are you concerned about a teen or pre-teen in your life?  When working with Teens you’re bound to hit a bit of turbulence. They’re attracted to risk. They’re distracted from school. They’re prone to latching onto digital platforms exposing them to risks such as cyber bullying, porn and gaming addiction. Come along to Adrienne Wood’s event Teen Turbulence and find out how to shield your adolescent from harm. See the Teen Turbulence event page or Facebook  Teen Turbulence Central  for more information.
